CCSL is led by an interdisciplinary team of climate change mitigation and adaptation scholars who offer complementary expertise from the natural sciences, engineering, and social sciences, befitting the need for wide-ranging expertise and perspectives to inform climate solutions. Our diverse team leverages the breadth of UVic’s climate-solutions expertise.

Our Core Team

Julia K. Baum
CCSL Program Director

Julia Baum holds the Faculty of Science President’s Chair at the University of Victoria where she is also Professor of Ocean Ecology and Global Change in the Department of Biology, a Provost’s Engaged Scholar, and the Director of Coastal Climate Solutions Leaders. Prof. Baum studies the resilience of marine ecosystems in the face of human disturbance. Her research group works to advance understanding of the impacts of climate change in the ocean, and to inform and catalyze climate solutions.

Isabella oversees all aspects of CCSL’s administration and program delivery. She collaborates with UVic departments, research centres and community partners to develop novel training opportunities, while providing personalized support to CCSL students. Isabella graduated from from the University of British Columbia with a major in Geography: Environment & Sustainability and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
